General Manager

Wilss is a Charitable Trust delivering formal and informal education to youth and adults in communities across the Greater Waikato Region and with national partners.  Our aim is to build and empower communities through quality education in leadership and volunteering.  Our vision is "effective leaders and volunteers empowering their communities". We have a strong commitment and deep rooted belief in developing New Zealanders' with the knowledge and skills to ensure that we have sustainable and healthy communities for our future generations.  We connect with over 7,300 participants from schools, community, sport, volunteer organisations and workplaces each year.

The role of General Manager at Wilss is a critical, challenging job with accountability for the organisation's strategic, operations, and financial results.  Reporting to the Chairperson and Board, you will be responsible for implementing and delivering the strategic plan, ensuring financial performance, providing leadership to a high performing team and developing business opportunities and partnerships.

The successful applicant must have;

  • Leadership experience in business management and desirably also a background in education and the not-for-profit sector.

  • Proven accounting/financial ability.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to enable interaction with a wide and diverse range of people.

  • Proven capability of staff management.

  • Capacity to take a hands-on approach and work within a highly motivated but small team.

  • A management and/or business-related tertiary qualification.

 

It is desirable that the applicant also have experience in the following:

  • Education compliance for TEC and NZQA

  • Business development

  • Sponsorship and funding applications

Appointment by Early January 2018.

Commencement Date – February 2018.

Are you a great coach or sport administrator and interested in sharing your knowledge with others still learning the trade?

WILSS is looking for energetic, motivating 'teachers of the trade'. If you have a teaching or facilitation background, even better!

We deliver part-time NZQA modules to Waikato coaches and administrators - we are looking to extend our great team of programme facilitators and are interested in hearing from you.

We are also looking for teachers who would be able to work during the week days on our school's programme. We are seeking teachers with NZ teaching qualifications who have an understanding of leadership, volunteering and are keen to make a difference with young people.
